Simulations

Simulations with theoretical parameters are useful to define the requirements for the beams coming from the photo-injector and the laser parameters in order to optimize plasma acceleration, allowing fine adjustment of parameters and stability analysis. This kind of simulations is widely used in order to make preliminary design of working points. On the other side, start to end simulations are required in order to choose optimal parameters at the injection, taking into account the real possibilities of the photo-injector and the laser systems. These simulations also provide daily feedback to the parameters required for the machine run. While the former are usually performed by means of a stand-alone code with the implement of theoretical formulas, the latter require interface between different codes (like GPT, Astra or T-Step for the generation of bunches inside photo-injectors).
